Geronimo – Apache

$495.00$1,250.00

This portrait of the historical old Apache was made in March 1905. According to Geronimo’s calculation, he was at the time seventy-six years of age, thus making the year of his birth 1829. The picture was taken at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the day before the inauguration of President Roosevelt, Geronimo being one of the warriors who took part in the inaugural parade at Washington. He appreciated the honor of being one of those chosen for this occasion, and the catching of his features, while the old warrior was in a retrospective mood, was most fortunate.

Available in  20 x 24″ and 30 x 40″.

Description

Our quoted dimensions are for the paper size, not the printed image itself.

For ethical and aesthetic reasons, we do not crop or alter the aspect ratio of Curtis’ original images. All of our prints have a minimum border of 1 inch to allow for safe handling and framing. For instance, an 11” x 14” print of An Oasis in the Badlands will have an image size of 10-3/8” x 12

Photographed in 1926, the image was created using a high-resolution scan from an original Curtis photogravure. Prior to scanning, the vintage photogravure was professionally conserved to restore the print to its original appearance.  After conservation, the images are prepared and optimized for printing with pigment-based inks and 100% cotton paper to ensure archival stability and quality that aligns with Curtis’ original intent.

Prior to shipping, the team at Cardozo Fine Art inspects each print and creates an individual Certificate of Authenticity.  Each shipment is carefully packed to ensure it will arrive in excellent condition.  Please allow up to 10 days from receipt of the order to shipping.  We will notify you when your order has shipped.
