Bears Belly – Arikara, 1908


Born in 1847 in the present-day North Dakota, Bear’s Belly was a highly respected and honored warrior of the Arikara and became a member of the Bears in the Medicine Fraternity. He acquired his bearskin in a dramatic battle in which he single-handedly killed three bears, thus gaining his personal “medicine”

Prior to scanning, the vintage photogravure was professionally conserved to restore the print to its original appearance.  After conservation, the images are prepared and optimized for printing with pigment-based inks and 100% cotton paper to ensure archival stability and quality that aligns with Curtis’ original intent.

Prior to shipping, the team at Cardozo Fine Art inspects each print and creates an individual Certificate of Authenticity.  Each shipment is carefully packed to ensure it will arrive in excellent condition.  Please allow up to 10 days from receipt of the order to shipping.  We will notify you when your order has shipped.
